He just thinks fuck you, quietly enough that it might not register - and if it does, she'll know what he means.
Take it with you, would you - what d'you mean, yours?

It's a joke, she retorts, as she tucks the journal under her arm. Relax. This is going to be a long week and I'm the one with the body.
no subject
Think the Admiral gave mine up because my body's already half-pickled?
Arthur isn't a terribly physical person, but he suddenly misses it badly, moving around himself.

She can just imagine what boredom might drive her to. God, that might be an even longer week.
Anything else I should grab from here?

"Oh. That's what the rebellion is rebellin' against?"
That's a lot more than he'd actually given her credit for. But with her talk of servants and lack of knowledge about cleaning, he'd assumed it wasn't that serious.
"You're quite the interesting young woman, ain't you?"
no subject
No, but lock it up behind you. Can we go check on someone else? See if it's the whole ship?

Like hell she’s going to wander around in her pajamas. Tess heads out, locking up behind her.
Who do you want to check with? Misty? She’s probably with William, if this is everyone.
no subject
Or he's with her. Who's to say it's not any which way?
The idea that she's going to be changing and he won't be able to at least turn around and give her some privacy is giving him the heebie-jeebies.

It involved a few more people than Tess and Yunlan, and not all of them are here anymore. I was only involved as her warden. If you aren't asking me this in order to accuse anyone of anything, then what will you do once you feel you have the whole story?
no subject
Why don’t I just text them? I don’t think William’s going to be in a great mood either way.
no subject
He's going to be insufferable with you because of the mere suggestion I might be around. Just warning you..
He can't, obviously, disguise the weird disdain he feels for William.

She pulls out her communicator yo text Misty anyway as she lets herself back into her room, where Nicki Minaj’s Starships is cheerily blaring.

Once I'm finished, my plan is to talk with the inmate about what I found out, maybe try to clarify any misunderstandings. Then wash my hands of it and move on. From my understanding of what happened, although it's been... educational in some of the finer aspects of how things are handled here, I feel like I've stuck my foot into something that isn't actually any of my business.
But since I was first under the impression there was an abuse of power, I thought it was worth investigating. And I don't really regret that decision. Better to look into it than to brush off the inmate's concern. Still, I don't expect I'll feel the need to do anything further than this.

How can you even hear yourself think in this noise? I'm not talking about William while you do this.

Which isn't exactly an issue to Tess, given how their conversations have typically gone down, but she turns the music down anyway. And then, considering she should spare him now in case she needs to drive him nuts with it later, she turns it off entirely.
And I can hear both of us think just fine, for the record.

Well, I'm an old man, have some pity.

She shucks off her pajama pants and pulls on jeans. And, considering just how long this week is going to be:
How open are you to us doing a don't-ask-don't-tell thing this week?

It's hard for her to conceive of someone not knowing about the rebellion, even now, but intellectually she knows most people here wouldn't have any kind of context for it.
Nonetheless, Leia gives him a mildly sarcastic look. "I'm not on the galaxy's most wanted list because I had a snit with an uncle, that's for sure."
no subject
Good. Because it's ancient history as far as I'm concerned, and I don't think Tess wants to get back into that mess either. He shouldn't have hurt her, and she likely made some mistakes as well. That's it.
no subject
"Well, even the 'galaxy' don't mean much of anything to me. I suppose it's a sensitive topic, but if you'd like to tell me I hear I'm easy to talk to," he says, with a little smile for her. She really is interesting, and Arthur doesn't like to talk about himself.
no subject
You gotta elaborate on that. But if it sounds like what I think it sounds like, we should likely establish some boundaries.

Alright. I can get behind that. I won't judge too harshly, promise.

She'll worry about the after later. That's how it's always worked.
