"Impulsive," he says, gesturing with his fork. "I get that. Not much good can come from all that, but nothing that can't be, uh, practiced."

"Exactly. It's just a bit of an arse that we're here in a place where not a lot of anything has consequences for long," she has to admit.

"Maybe it's like a kid, getting to fall off a pony a couple times before he gets to try a horse. Safe mistakes."

Hilda smiles crookedly.

"You do have a good point. I'm just waiting for her to actually...find a pony. Metaphorically speaking."

"Let's hope it ain't another inmate, that's all," he says, with a crooked little grin over at her.

"I shudder to think. As for your gentleman, you should try getting him over the network. Have you used your one of these much?"

She takes her communicator from her pocket to demonstrate what she means.

"A little," he admits, taking his own out and looking at it. "I try to look at it once every day."

"It's a bit tricky to get into the habit," Hilda says, sympathetically. "And when it's new technology, well, it's harder still. Gadgets like that are all over the place where I'm from, but I remember when they were new."

"I already felt like I was from a bygone age, and this sure ain't helping," he admits, with a self-deprecating smile.
